Change Your Mindset to Change Your Life

At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and being successful have nothing to do with one another. But what I’ve after watching and studying successful people, I realize that mindset matters more than anything.  Mindset will help you get over your problems by helping you speak, see and show up differently despite the difficulty of people, life experiences and circumstances.

Say what now?  Good, bad or indifferent, we are what we think and we attract who we are.  Accordingly, if you don’t like what you’re seeing, then you must fully appreciate that it’s within your power to change your reality by changing how you think about things.  The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:

  1. Thinking positively about your body motivates you to eat well, exercise consistently, and stop overworking your body. And when you’re positive about something, you’re more likely to want to maintain it instead of abusing it.
  2. Think about the things you are grateful for to consistently remind yourself about what’s right in your life. Trust me, just taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the things you have, the things you love and the things you appreciate will make a huge difference.
  3. Seek to know instead of assuming by surrounding yourself with people, places and things you want to see in your life. When you know within your knower that all things will work out for your good because you prepared for it, learned about it and ready to meet the challenge, you’re more likely to operate in your purpose which empowers you to press forward instead of shrinking back.
  4. Never say Never because when you use absolutes you miss out on limitless possibilities. Additionally, speaking in absolutes like ‘always’ and ‘never’ makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.
  5. Let go of negative thoughts because they’re not of God. God is love, kind and forgiving so if you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don’t follow it.
  6. Eliminate the the “ANTs” aka Automatic Negative Thoughts. Negative thoughts make you think people are laughing at you, talking about you, coming for you or trying to play you, you hinder yourself from appreciating that what others do… or don’t do isn’t about you. Instead, do your best when you can, as often as you can for whomever you can regardless of people, places or things surrounding you.
  7. Act in love by embodying what you hope to see. If you want love, be loving; if you want a friend, show yourself to be friendly. It took me years to appreciate that the way we see the world reflects how we see ourselves.  Accordingly, if you want to live in a more loving, caring and passionate world, give to others what you’re praying to see for yourself.
  8. Do Good by sharing the good within you. Anytime someone complains about the world, or people or their jobs, I always ask what, if anything, are they doing to change what they see. Just know, if you can’t change the environment, the Divine is offering you the opportunity to share the good in you.
  9. Help Someone else seek, know and do better. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.
  10. Change your mindset to change your world. Negativity is a way of life, exudes from negative people and also a causal reaction to the totality of unfortunate events. However, you have everything you need to ensure that the small things in this world doesn’t destroy the greatness within you.

I could go on and on, add a few scriptures or even go into a huge discourse regarding what people do and don’t do.  But ultimately, my goal is to help you appreciate that you have the power to change your world by changing the words that feed your mind.  And when we constantly feed our minds with beautiful things, affirmations, audio books, learning about others and watching how successful do, we shift the trajectory of our destiny.  Enough about me, what have you learned to do to ensure you don’t succumb to the negativity of this world?  Better yet, what are doing/pursuing to help you change your world?
